Well, all I have to say is that the Mavs didn't want it.
Up by 16 at the end of the third quarter, they had the Suns beaten and exhausted. By the middle of the fourth, the Suns were in bad foul trouble with no depth to rely on. Yet, the Mavs decided to hold back and settle for jumpers. TAKE IT TO THE HOLE! GET THE FOUL!
It shouldn't have come down to it, but if Dirk or Terry had just fouled Nash on the Suns' last possession, we'd be talking about a game 7. But no, Nash made the most clutch play in his career... the three that sent the game to OT. That completely deflated the Mavs, who didn't even try in overtime. Even with Amare out and Nash with 5 fouls, the Mavs, with the exception of Stackhouse, never tried to take it to the rim. Choke!
See ya, 2005. It was a nice thought.
And we're left with nothing. The sports season is over. This is the annual depressing, summer dry-spell, spent waiting for football season to start up again. Summer always seems to drag on forever.
You may be asking, "Well, what about baseball?" That's a game, not a sport. Baseball is a "pastime". Baseball is a way to spend an afternoon. Baseball is for geeks who care more about counting stats than watching action.
Yes, give me hockey. If not hockey, then give me football. If not football, then give me basketball. If not basketball, then give me some Tylenol PM. Maybe I can sleep through the summer until NFL training camp starts up again.
By the way, go see Star Wars, Episode III. Seriously, it's worth it. MUCH better than the last two.
